Explorer
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer originated from Rolex's involvement in exploration expeditions. These watches have helped explorers navigate uncharted territories. Thanks to Rolex's many years of experience in the watch industry, the Explorer watches are equipped with unmatched strength and reliability, which was often the only certainty for explorers during extreme survival journeys.
Rolex tested the watches during Himalaya expeditions from 1930 to ensure they remained perfectly functional, even at temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius and 70% less oxygen than at sea level. These watches were not yet called Explorer at the time, but they were the basis for the design of this model watch.
