The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer is originated from Rolex's involvementin voyages of discovery. These watches have helped explorers explore unexplored areas. Rolex tested the watches during Himalayan expeditions from 1930 onwards to ensure that they continued to functionperfectly, even at temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius and 70% less oxygen than at sea level. These watches did not yet bear the name Explorer at the time, but they were the basis for the design of this watch model.
