The Oyster Perpetual Submariner is an icon among dive watches. The Submariner was launched in 1953 and was the first dive watch to be waterproof to a depth of 100 meters. After the invention of the Oyster in 1926, the world's first waterproof wristwatch, the Submariner was the second major breakthrough in the field of technical developments in water resistance.

The current Submariner is at its core still the same watch as the original that was launched more than a half century ago.
