The Milgauss was designed specifically for those who worked in power plants, medical facilities and research laboratories. Before Rolex released the Milgauss, scientists and other similar professionals faced a serious problem; an electromagnetic field of more than 50 to 100 gauss would severely disrupt a watch's timing. As a result, they had to contend with an inaccurate watch or no watch at all.
