The Rolex Day-Date was introduced in 1956 and grew into one of the most prestigious watches ever produced. As the first wristwatch to display both the full day and the date, this model set a new standard. The combination of technical refinement and stature earned the Day-Date its iconic nickname: The President.

This example from 1979 has a 36 mm case in 18-karat yellow gold and is originally engraved with reference 18038. The watch features a beautiful blue vignette dial with diamond hour markers.

The watch features a bark President bracelet with 23 links and a diamond-set bark bezel, parts belonging to the Day-Date 18078. The 18038 and 18078 belong to the same generation, and these parts are interchangeable. The engravings of the the reference and serial number have been checked and confirmed correct by our watchmaker.
